Magic show (open)

[Zee]

Zatanna had gone back to Gotham and started to walk around the streets. It seemed every thing was still the same way. As she walked Zatanna smiled to see kids running around. During the day Gotham was not to bad but at night it was another story.

Zatanna was there for a show. She found her way to a hotel they wanted her at and started to get read. As the time got closer Zatanna was getting ready. This was her life and this is what she loved the most.

As her name was being called Zatanna came on stage with a smile on her face.

"I"m am Zatanna Zatara!" She took a bow of the head and looked around "I need a young assistant."

She saw a lot of young people raise there hand and with a smile she pulled her hat out. She said some words and put her hand in. Looking around she picked a handsome young man. Pulling him out of her hat every one was clapping. She placed him down and turned him big after saying a few words.

"What is your name young man?"

The young man looked at him. "Zack."

"Well Zack I need you to go into that box." She pointed to a box that was taller then him. As he did so she said closed the box doors and smiled. She said some words and once she opened the doors he was gone. "Ladies and Gentalman the young man named Zack had vanished." When the light moved to her it moved to him which he was behind every one standing there. "If you would look behind you he is right there."

He gave a smile and a wave. "You may sit back down and thank you." With a smile she looked at them. She soon started to do simple tricks before she figured out what she would do in her final finally.

Kaldur had been advised by Aquaman to observe different aspects of the world in order to gain a greater understanding of how and why his friends behaved in such the ways that they did. He had been to the surface many times with Aquaman, but that usually involved visiting League members or combating someone that was up to no good.

His choice to come to Gotham was based solely on the fact that it contained a wide variety of the ways of life that were present on Earth, so it would save time for him and everyone else by coming here. He had asked Miss Martian to drop him off, while he conducted some observational research as most scientists called such work that he was doing.

During the course of the day, Kaldur had been the 'victim' of an attempted mugging, which had ended very badly for the mugger. On a brighter note, he had caught site of a poster for a magic show that he had decided to go to. He arrived during the middle of a trick with a young boy being put in a box and transported to behind the crowd.

The trick was performed perfectly, but Kaldur was focused on the lady who was actually doing the source of the magic in the room. He had spent many hours running through the current league members and the woman on the stage was definitely one of them. Kaldur guessed everyone had their own day jobs that kept them from being lost in their work.

After the trick with the boy, Zatanna was performing some simple tricks, which he thought were good but Kaldur also wanted to add to the level of fun in the room. It was not something that he usually used his powers for, but he was trying to learn how the others lived and now he was at the point that required some investment.

"I wonder what would be considered funny to this audience that I could do that wasn't too embarrassing for either one of us."

[Zee]

Zatanna saw someone she never thought he would come here to Gotham. She wondered what the league was thinking. Gotham was not safe at night. Hell Joker was around sometimes. Looking at him she smiled and took off her hat. “Know I’m going to pull a rabbit out of my hat.” Zatanna started to go through her hat. People were booing her since she was taking so long but what they did not know it was part of a trick.

Someone look up and saw Zatanna’s hand and a few of them started to move away from that hand. With a smile she picked up Aqualad and brought him out of her hat and smiled. “Well aren’t you a tiny person.” She gave him a small wink. Once she did that she put him on the floor and said a few words and he was back to normal. “Thank you thank you.” She bowed down and looked at the boy “What is your name young man?”

Kaldur was not sure how pulling a rabbit out of her hat was going to be entertaining until he noticed her hand coming for him. Knowing that she would never do anything to harm him, Kaldur allowed himself to be pulled out of her hat, which meant being shrunken down to the size of an ant or something. He did not like the feeling of being small. It made him realize how easy he could be squashed by someone if he were to accidentally fall. Fortunately, she returned him to his normal size, which meant that he was going to be a part of the show. What that would entail was up to Zatanna.

"My name is Kal." He decided to shorten his name down to the simplest form, so that no one would take a detour from the show by asking him where he was from and what not. Now what to do to get this show really going? An idea popped into his head that would fit with the show's idea. "And I am the wonderful water magician." Kaldur was unsure of how the audience, and more importantly Zatanna would react to the what he had just said.

[Zee]

Zatanna looked at him shocked and then smiled. “Well the Kal lets see what you can do then.” She went close to his ear so nobody could hear her. “Watch what you do. Don’t need people knowing who you really are. Keep the trick simple.” Zatanna moved and brought a table in with water. “Well Kal lets see what you can do.”

Zatanna stood next to the table watching him. If anyone found out about this it would be her head. But she new he needed to have fun. Fun was something Zatanna was going to show him.

As she was warning him about keeping the trick simple, Kaldur smiled to the audience and tried to remember the amateur trick that he had seen while watching youtube videos on someone's computer. "Do not worry. I have the simplest trick to use in this situation, and it is in fact a magic trick." It was indeed a simple magic trick, but he had modified it so that it would be a little more interesting. He was just glad that he had chosen to where a piece of clothing that was known for building up charge when it is rubbed up against itself or something similar to it.

Kaldur opened up a bottle of water and took a drink of it, while setting the cap down. It tasted different from natural water but that didn't matter for the trick. "I shall now invert this bottle without spilling a drop." With that being said, he flipped over the bottle while controlling the molecules with his mind. The normal trick required a piece of plastic, but Kaldur did not have that need.

As the audience watched him lift the bottle high in the air, Kaldur used his remaining hand to open another bottle and chugged it down. The second bottle was placed and a 45 degree angle from the other one. "Now I shall show you how easily I can 'bend' water to my will." With his free hand, he made a diagonal line and then let the water fall from the bottle, while bending the direction with his mind. It landed smoothly in the bottle with no random jerks or anything.

When it was done, Kaldur set down the other bottle and took a slight bow. "I know that my tricks are not as impressive as Ms. Zatanna, but I do enjoy doing them and thank you for allowing me to do so."

[Zee]

People started to clap for his tricks. They were calling for more water tricks.

Zatanna looked at him and smild. "You know Kal I could use your help with another water trick." Zatanna looked at audiance. "It is a hard trick for me to do. It is to take a bucket of water and to get the water to go all over the audiance. Then we will poor the water all over the people. But nobody will get wet." Zatanna smiled and looked at Kal. "You okay with that?"

The audiance were telling him to go for it.

Kaldur was glad that his trick was received with such high regards, but alas he was not sure if he could perform any more tricks without giving away something about his origins by doing so. When Zatanna asked him for some assistance though, Kal thought that maybe she was okaying him to use his powers a little more than what he thought he was allowed to do.

"I will aid you in anyway that I can, but I shall require a more specific explanation of what my job in all of this will be." Kaldur didn't want to do more or less than he needed to in this situation, and he believed that Zatanna had more up her sleeve than he was aware of. He smiled at the crowd, while trying to figure out how exactly they were going to be kept dry with all the water. Kaldur knew magic was going to be involved, but he was not sure what kind.

[Zee]

Zatanna smiled at him. She began to say a spell as the water began to fly forward on top of people. "You will help me and say the same words i do." The spell she was doing would allow the water go through the people with out them getting wet. "Just repeat after me okay." Zatanna new he would have to help her a lot. "Watch my hand movement and do the same thing." Zatanna started to speak the spell and moved her wand in a pulling and pushing movment.

That would be the last trick for the night. Zatanna was getting tired and she wanted to talk to him alone.

Kaldur was not sure if copying her words would help in her spell, but he did it just the same. He repeated what she said and soon began saying in harmony with Zatanna. When this occurred, Kaldur then proceeded to use his finger to act as his wand and copied her hand movements. He focused his mind on controlling the water in the way that she wanted him to without actually gaining control over it in such a way that it would mess up the spell.

The young Atlantean had no way of knowing whether the spell was really working until it began to pass through people without even leaving a damp spot on their clothes. It was truly remarkable what magic could allow people to do.

[Zee]

Zatanna saw him and smiled. It hlped to have someone like him helping her out with this spell. She had some problems with it since it was to big. As the water came back she placed it in the bucket and smiled. "Thank you every one!" She saw them all leaving and looked at Kaldur.

"come on back with me Kaldur. I wish to talk to you about tonight." As she started to walk down stairs she went to her dressing room letting him in. "You are very talented Kaldur." She sat down and pulled another chair for him to sit down as well. "I'm glad you came tonight." Zatanna looked at him with a smile. "If you don't mind I would like to see what you can really do with that water of yours."

With the success of the trick, Kaldur waved to the exiting people with a smile on his face. He enjoyed having some fun with his gifts, which were not as impressive as most people thought them to be. His Atlantean friends had more skills than he had in the area of sorcery, which he would have as well if he had stayed in school but the call of a hero was something that he wanted. Kaldur figured that one day he would go back to continue his training when either the world became more stable or more heroes arose to meet the challenge.

His mind was brought back to the current situation by Zatanna asking him to follow her into the back. Kaldur was not sure what they were going to talk about, but he followed her anyway. The two of them were sitting in her dressing room with her telling him that he was a talented kid and that she was pleased that he had shown up. "It was a very lovely performance, which I am thankful that you let me be a part of."

Her request to see what all he could do with water was one that he found intriguing. Kaldur wondered if she was trying to see what he was really capable of or if she was trying to learn about how Atlantean sorcery worked. "I can do a great many things with water," he said as he pulled out his water-channellers. His tattoos it up along his arms as two swords which elongated into whips. The whips circled around the room before picking up the very chair that she was sitting in.

"I can make the water do many things, but as most powers go a large task requires a lot of energy and focus." With that being said, Kaldur placed Zatanna back on the ground and called the whips back into the channelers. He kept his eyes locked on the magical woman to see what she would say and whether or not she would explain her intention for asking to see his abilities.

[Zee]

Zatanna smiled as he showed her his powers. Feeling her chair being picked up Zatanna watched him with a smile. “you have great gifts Kaldur.” Walking up to him she put a hand on his shoulder. “You have water powers as I can control water. What I wanted to see if you could help me and I could help you.” Zatanna was still learning about her powers. Being that he used magic Zatanna could probably help him in some ways.

Placing her hands off of him Zatanna turned and looked at crystal ball. Saying some words it began to show what they were doing. “Hmm I need to be a little more faster then what I was doing.” Looking at him she smiled. “Kaldur you could probably do something like that if you train. Mastering any kind of magic source is not easy without help. So that is why I ask if you wish for help.” Zatanna new she would have to help all the team but Kaldur and her had more in common then she did with the others.

Kaldur was glad to see that his gifts were something that a full-time magic user would call great, but it may have just been said because Zatanna could tell that he was feeling like an amateur next to her. Then again, he may have just been over-analyzing the entire issue like he usually did. His training caused him to think of every possible outcome, which did not work very well in conversations with other people or fun events like dodge-ball where instant reaction was the way to go.

The idea of being able to perform things like Zatanna was very appealing in the young Atlantean's mind. He needed to add to his repertoire of abilities since his belief was that repetitive use of certain tactics would lead to any hero's downfall given sufficient time. Her question of whether he wanted help or not was the main issue that was flaring up signals in his mind. Kaldur was not sure if continuing his magical training with a new teacher was the best way to go, but he could not merit the time to travel back and forth from Atlantis with his responsibilities to the team. "It would be an honor to receive assistance in this area from you Zatanna."

[Zee]

Zatanna smiled at Kal and shook her head “Its more like you will be assisting me. I have been training ever since I was younger. If you could ever believe it I knew batman since he was young. My father helped him train some magic tricks. I am always learning. Any one who has powers are always learning something new. No matter how old they are.”

Zatanna smiled at him glad he was willing to have her help him and he would help her. “I’ll be around all the time. Probably training you guys and help you learn how to doge powers and all that.” Zatanna was still there sitting down and smiled at him.
